“But they constrained Him, saying, “Abide with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent.” And He went in to stay with them” (Luke 24:29).

What a blessed experience it is for God to abide with you! When you request Him with all perseverance, He will definitely visit your home. He will also stay in your heart.

Today, the people of the world trespass into the premises of others forcibly. The police arrive and knock the door fiercely. The officials belonging to the government's 'C. I. D.' department come and break the doors for the purpose of carrying out searches. The robbers and thieves are always on the wait to get an opportunity to break into the houses. But God never visits places uninvited or out of force. He will enter only when eagerly invited.

Jesus Christ says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him and dine with him, and he with me” (Revelation 3:20).

That day, when the disciples visited Emmaus, they requested God to stay in their home. He obliges and what a great change His visit brought in! They would have been happily sharing their happiness of this visit of God, for the whole of their lifetime.

To your house too, many people come, stay and depart and you forget these incidences very early. Their visits are of no significance. But when Jesus Christ visits your home, glorious changes take place there. Unforgettable experiences will follow and you will rejoice always.

When Jesus stayed in the home of the disciples during their visit to Emmaus, He took bread, blessed and broke it and gave it to them. At once, their Spiritual eyes were opened. The eyes which recognise Christ were opened. The Scripture says, "They knew Him". What a wonderful experience it is!

Dear children of God, give room in your heart for Jesus to abide. Seek Him to come and abide in your heart. He will come as a King of glory and abide in you.

When He abides in your heart, the eyes of your heart will get opened. You will realise how precious He is and how sweet He is. Happiness, peace and joy will be there in you for the whole of your lifetime.

To meditate: “That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world” (John 1:9).
