“How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news” (Isaiah 52:7).

God is so happy in finding that the feet of the evangelist who brings the Good News are beautiful. Today, beauty contests are conducted in various parts of the country at state, national as well as international levels and prizes are being awarded.

God also conducts the beauty contests. But He is not the one to see the faces but the heart. The Scripture says, “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who proclaims peace, who brings glad tidings of good things, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, “your God reigns!” (Isaiah 52:7).

Historically, a part of the Israelites were taken as captives to Babylon. They had to undergo the life of slavery with all sadness. But God gave the direction in the heart of the king Cyrus to release the Israelites.

One Jewish youth was running through the mountains to proclaim this Good News of the redemption of the Israelites from the captivity to the other Israelites. The news he brought was a news of peace; a news of Salvation. It is the news that it is God who rules. The people saw the feet which ran unmindful of the ups and downs, the feet which climbed the hills to proclaim the Good News, the feet which ran non-stop through the hills in spite of the stones and thorns injuring them. It is these feet which the people found to be beautiful.

There is a more important Good News than the one which that man said. That is the News of Salvation which Jesus Christ earned on the Cross. It is the News that the head of the enemy was crushed with His blood. It is the News which saves from the hade and the sea of hell. Those who proclaim this Good News are the true evangelists. They are the people who run over hills and forests to proclaim the Good News with burden on souls.

Yes. The evangelists have three important responsibilities. Firstly they have to proclaim the peace. Secondly they have to introduce Jesus Christ who is the prince of peace to all. Thirdly they have to preach the divine peace which the world cannot give and which Jesus earned on the Cross. Dear children of God, do your feet looking beautiful in the eyes of God? Do you proclaim the Good News? Whether you find an opportunity or not, proclaim the Good News.

To meditate: “Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised” (Proverbs 31:30).
