LOVE WILL COVER!

“...love will cover a multitude of sins” (I Peter 4:8).

The Scripture says, “He who covers a transgression seeks love, but he who repeats a matter separates friends” (Proverbs 17:9). “A talebearer reveals secrets, but he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter” (Proverbs 11:13).

Generally, people keep their eyes wide open when they find the shortfalls and the faults of others. But the same people when they come across honest deeds, close their eyes without appreciating them. Many people keep looking at the speck in the eyes of others and never notice the plank in their own eyes. We read in Matthew 7:3, “And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?”

The lives of certain people are fully put to waste because of their habit of finding fault in others. The accusing spirit which accuses our brethren before our God day and night comes from nowhere else but from satan (Revelation 12:10). It is a divine experience to forgive and forget the faults of others. But when one runs here and there accusing others, it brings curse both from God and man. When Noah was lying in his tent uncovered, his son Ham saw this and instead of making a cover he went and kept telling this to other brothers. Due to this, he and his generation remained cursed.

But Japheth the other son of Noah brought a garment and covered his father's nudity and this brought him the blessings. Noah blessed Japheth saying, "May God enlarge Japheth."

All those who forgive and forget the sins of others and cover the same with divine love will definitely remain blessed by God. The characteristic of Christ is also such. Is it not? He covered the sin of others with His love and blood and pleaded on the Cross of Calvary saying, "Lord, forgive them." Is it not?

Even today, Christ remains as one to forgive and forget the sins of others and plead for them with the Father (I John 2:1). When Adam and Eve sinned, God dressed them in tunics of skin and He covers you also with the garment of Salvation.

Dear children of God, let the characteristic of Christ be formed in you. Getting filled with divine love and covering the sins are indeed hard but may God bless you with such divine characteristic.

To meditate: “For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness” (Isaiah 61:10).
