“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time” (I Peter 5:6).
God's Clock never delays. God is one to make everything beautiful in its time. People say that He will neither go ahead nor lag behind. His time and period are as important as His will is.
Solomon the wise says, “To everything, there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven" and writes about 28 times (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8). The most important among them is the time in which God elevates you. It is essential that you humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, till He exalts you. Many people resort to shortcuts and seek the help of men to get elevated. When the elevation is through men, the ultimate end will be nothing but tragedy.
Look at the life of Joseph. He was waiting for so many years for his elevation. He was pushed into the pit. He was sold in Egypt as a slave. He was subjected to false accusations in the home of Pharaoh. He was put into the prison. But when the right time arrived, God exalted him as the chief of Egypt.
It would have taken just a few hours for him to travel from the prison to the palace of Pharaoh. A few hours back he was a prisoner and an insignificant person but within a few hours, he became the authority for the entire country. He became the person responsible for all the people to receive their share of food and amenities. Yes, God elevated him wonderfully at the most appropriate time.
Look at Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. A few hours back they had been found guilty by the king and had been sentenced to death. The furnace had been made seven times hotter for them. But within a few hours they were exalted. They were honoured by the king. Yes. When God exalts the honour also comes along.
A few minutes are enough for God to exalt you. The Scripture says, “He raises the poor out of the dust, and lifts the needy out of the ash heap, that He may seat him with princes - with the princes of His people” (Psalms 113:7, 8).
During the autumn season, the trees will look pathetic as the leaves have withered away. But during the advent of spring the same trees will begin to look so attractive with flowers and fruits. It is indeed a pleasant sight. Dear children of God, when you humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, He will definitely exalt you at the right time.
To meditate: “Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live?” (Hebrews 12:9).
