“I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved” (Psalms 16:8).

Some people get shaken even while experiencing small issues. They change track from the path of faith. But David says firmly, “I have set the Lord always before me; I shall not be moved.”

When problems and struggles which are intense come across, even the rock-like heart will get shaken. When the tribulations come one after the other, even the strong mind will get disturbed. When troubles keep coming often, is there anyone to stay unaffected?

A death occurred in a man’s family who was a namesake Christian. Out of anger the family members removed the picture of Christ and other Scripture hangings from the house, brought them outside and broke them. They threw the Bible saying that they needed neither Christ nor the religion of Christianity.

The reason is that they did not keep Christ before them. They were not deeply rooted in Christ and stay strong. If the brother who died had died in Christ, he would have gained the high status, as said: “Those who died in Christ are blessed.” But, as they were not firm Christians, their faith withered.

Bring both the clay and wax together towards the fire. Though the character of the fire is the same, it melts the wax and makes it run away and at the same time, it hardens and strengthens the clay. All the tribulations which a man faces are common among mankind. But the hearts of some people do melt while facing them where as those who keep God in front will stand steadfast even amid the tribulations.

When the wind blows, it will extinguish mild fire. But if the fire is stronger, the same wind will to burn more vigorously and will not extinguish. If the love you place on God is not deep the trial will try to overcome it. But at the same time if the love you place on God is deep it will not extinguish but begin to spread and burn widely.

Dear children of God, you will never be shaken. Do your relatives, friends and neighbours try to shake you? Say with faith, “I have set the Lord always before me; I shall not be moved”

To meditate: “Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever” (Psalms 125:1).
